BIMTECH Knowledge Centre Is An Essential Component Of Bimtech’s Research & Education Mission.

The BIMTECH Library, known as the BIMTECH “Knowledge Centre,” is a hybrid library. It is considered one of the best libraries in the Delhi NCR region in the area of management education, with a varied collection of print and electronic resources, including books, journals, databases, CDs and DVDs, e-journals, reports, etc. The Knowledge Centre plays a very important role in providing information services for the academic community in their intellectual pursuits. The library offers a wide variety of physical and virtual services. The electronic resources subscribed to by the library are accessible to users through the discovery search facility.

The library is the most lively place on campus, providing a friendly environment that enables learning and the advancement of knowledge, extends research and publication assistance, and facilitates undergraduate, postgraduate, and research scholars. A large, well-ventilated, two-floored reading room supports it. The library is enriched with print and digital systems, which are accessible to students, ex-students, researchers, faculty, staff, and visitors. The library frequently displays and exhibits its resources.

ACE EQUITY (desktop application) is a corporate database of more than 40,000 Indian listed & unlisted companies. Library Rules

The BIMTECH Library is primarily meant for the regular faculties, visiting faculties, research scholars, students, and administrative staff of the institute. These rules are framed to help and promote rather than constrain the use of library materials and services.

1.The library restricts the types of personal belongings patrons may bring. Items that may not be brought inside the library include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Personal newspapers, books/checked-out books.
  • Briefcases and cases for other equipment (laptop computers)
  • Containers (including paper bags, boxes, backpacks, shopping bags, etc.)
  • Food and drinks
  • Handbags or purses larger than 9.5″ x 6.25″
  • Luggage
  • Musical instruments and their cases
  • Outerwear (such as raincoats and overcoats)
  • Umbrellas
  • Scissors or other cutting implement
  • Pets

At the owner’s risk, personal belongings should be kept outside the library or at the property counter.

No valuable items, viz., money, passbooks, and mobile phones, should be kept in your bag while keeping them on the property counter.

Mobile phones should be switched off or kept in silent mode inside the library. Mobile use is restricted in reading areas.

Photography is allowed with the prior permission of the librarian; however, flash photography is prohibited in all areas.

As in any other public situation, users in the library must exercise care to safeguard their personal property. Valuable property, particularly laptops, and mobile phones, should never be left unattended in the reading area or elsewhere in the library. The library is not responsible for the loss of personal property brought into the library.

Using Library Resources:

  • Only take resources out of the library that you have borrowed. Remember to return or renew them on time to avoid fines.
  • Treat library property with respect. You will be charged for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
  • Remember, the library’s online services are for academic use only and must not be used for any commercial purpose.
  • The greatest possible care must be taken to prevent damage to items from the library’s collections. Make no marks on items from the library’s collections. Do not rest objects or take notes on top of library materials. You must preserve the existing order and arrangement of unbound materials and report any disarrangement to the library staff on duty.
  • No rare material may be photocopied without the permission of the librarian. Fragile material may not be photocopied.

Renewal of Borrowed Books: Users can renew the books they’ve borrowed if another user has not put the same books on hold. Books can be renewed by bringing them to the library circulation counter. Renewal of books can be done up to two times by students and one time by faculty and staff, and after a lapse of one month, it or they could be reissued.

  • Theses, dissertations, CDs, and video cassettes are not lent out of the library.
  • A late fee of Rs. 5 per day will be charged after the due date.

Important: TThe book issue facility will be suspended for one month if the fine on a book exceeds Rs. 150 in the case of students.

  • Reference books, bound volumes, pamphlets, and standards are issued only to the faculty and equivalent staff members as:
    • Two reference books for three days.
    • One loose issue of a journal other than the latest (for overnight borrowing) between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., which should be returned before 12 p.m. the next day.
  • No book in damaged condition will be accepted from the reader. Mutilated or spoiled books will have to be replaced by the borrower.
  • The loss of a book must be reported immediately. Late fees, if any, will be charged until the loss of the book is reported. If the original library book is returned after reporting it lost, the fine will be calculated until the date of its return.
  • If a book is lost, the patron can submit a replacement copy to the library along with a fine of 25% of the cost of the book, or the current cost of the book plus 25% fine is to be submitted.
  • Books issued will not be accepted back on the same day.

Books Recommendations

The library procures textbooks and reference books at the request of the BIMTECH faculty. Students desiring to suggest new books for the library may please give their suggestions to their concerned department faculty. Faculty desiring to suggest new books for the library may please fill out the online recommendation form after logging into their OPAC account or download and fill out the respective form attached herewith and submit it to the librarian for further action.

A form for recommendations for the purchase of books is attached herewith.

Please include for each item the title, author or editor, date or edition, and publisher. These details can be typed in or copied from a document, email, or website (you may prefer to copy from publisher websites or Amazon books for the items you’re recommending). If you have a long list of recommendations, please email it as an attachment to [email protected].

Advisory Committee

The library is advised by a committee of experts in different disciplines. Faculty members of various disciplines are the members of the library committee, with one senior member as convener. The director of the institute is the chairman of the committee. The head of the library generally acts as the member-secretary of the committee. The functions of the committee are to assist and advise the Head of Library in the formulation of library policies, the purchase of library materials, the improvement of library and information services, and operational matters.

The library provides each member of the committee with an orientation to collection development policies and procedures. The advisory committee also reviews and assists in revising the allocation of collection development funds to best meet the needs of all disciplines. The committee meets regularly to advise the library on a wide range of other collection development issues.

The Library Committee advises the Director on the following matters:
  • Provide an effective forum for the working faculties to communicate their suggestions for the provision of effective library and information services. Evolve collection development policies and procedures, including journal subscriptions.
  • Formulate the rules concerned with circulation policies.
  • Advice on budget proposals, manpower development, etc.
  • Recommend the write-off of lost documents, obsolete and old books, etc
  • Advise on the development of infrastructural facilities, including space, furniture, reprographic, and computer facilities.
  • Long term development planning.
  • Library budget in respect of books, periodicals, manpower, furniture, and other equipment required for the library from time to time.
  • General library rules and regulations.
